Wong Choong Han - good job!

We never thought that Wong Choong Han could beat Taufik (sorry, we ‘dog eyes’). We were still making fun about Taufik’s dengi (sorry again, I know we shouldn’t) when Wong Choong Han starts to show his capability in 1st set.

The games weren’t said to be most exciting, but because it was unexpected (at least for Wei Wei and me), we were excited about this victory (yes, I call this victory. Don’t you think that performing something out of others’ expectation is consider a victory?). You see, Taufik is the defending champion. Even though I don’t like him (because I’m patriotic ;p), his plays was never in doubt. He is one of the best badminton player of our time. On the other hand, we seldom see Wong Choong Han win any important tournaments for years. This is his last chance to salvage something before his retirement (I presume) and I’m glad he had fight for every single point available out there, beating Taufik in straight sets.

Wong Choong Han gave us a good reason to celebrate! (^^)

Swim of the Century

How do you describe a swimming competition where a team broke world record during the heats and 5 teams broke the world record again in the final?

This happened at the water cube, where Men’s 4×100 metre freestyle relay took place. In the heats, the USA team set a world record without Michael Phelps. France and Australia also went faster than the old record. During the heats, all five of the continental records were broken.

In the final, USA, France, Australia, Italy and Sweden teams all finished within the World Record time set in the heats. I can imagine how crazy it was in the Water Cube. Everyone must be shouting, celebrating "faster, higher, better"!
